Though the contents of the latest issue of Social Networks may not interest many readers, I still feel compelled to note that a new issue was published today.
Of most interest to the general network analysis community will be the final paper in this edition, by a collection of sociologist from Harvard and one from UCLA. The title is, “Tastes, ties, and time: A new social network dataset using Facebook.com“, and it is by Kevin Lewis, Jason Kaufman, Marco Gonzalez, Andreas Wimmer and Nicholas Christakis. The paper introduces a new publicly available data set of Facebook.com ties, which have been coded over multiple social attributes.
This may be of use to people who study networks for the purposes of understanding how attributes affect structure. The data is available here for free download.
