I study international relations, conflict and terrorism using the tools of mathematics, statistics and computer science in an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of these phenomena.  My academic curiosity is informed by my years as an analyst in the U.S. intelligence and defense communities.

As part of my research I maintain a blog called Zero Intelligence Agents, which asks the question, “How can the social sciences, mathematics and computer science combine to affect national security policy?”

ZIA is a place for me to “think out loud,” about my current and future research.  As the author, my goals are to share my ideas, highlight new research, and possibly develop new tools along the way. I hope you’ll visit.
